East Tennessee Breastfeeding Coalition (ETBC): A diverse group of lactation professionals and community members working to carry out the vision of ETBC: creating a healthier East Tennessee where human milk feeding is supported and accessible for all.
This group advocates and promotes health equity in the lactation space by staying up to date with current breastfeeding public health trends. The ETBC holds bi-monthly meetings on first Thursdays, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Each meeting covers a different topic and features a new guest speaker. Those who want to attend meetings have the option of attending in person at the Knox County Health Department or via Zoom. If you’d like to register for an upcoming meeting, click here.
FIMR Community Action Team (CAT): A team of individuals from partnering organizations in Knox County who identify and implement solutions to poor birth outcomes based on recommendations made by the FIMR Case Review Team. These solutions might include new or revised policies, programs, or services.
Knox Birth Education Alliance (KBEA): A group of local birth workers, healthcare providers, and other professionals focused on increasing equity in access to education, resources, and opportunities for communities with historically disparate birth outcomes.
We host events throughout the year with the goal of promoting awareness of local resources and education on a range of maternal and child health topics. This webpage highlights some of these events.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PIL): FIMR closely collaborates with local birth centers, hospitals, and other maternal and child health organizations to host an annual event dedicated to holding space for families that have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or death of an infant.
